Gunners are known to want to strengthen at the back this summer.
Arsenal have been put on alert by the news that Marseille are set to allow the key defensive duo of both Souleymane Diawara and Nicholas N’koulou to leave the Ligue 1 giants at the end of this season, according to reports on Sky Sports.
Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has been closely monitoring both defenders for some time now as the Frenchman looks to bring in reinforcements at the back to strengthen the North London club for next season.
The Gunners currently have question marks hanging over the likes of France international right back Bacary Sagna, whose contract is set to expire at the Emirates next year and is reportedly said to be interesting Serie A giants Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, Wenger is also known to still harbour lingering doubts as to the suitability of centre backs Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, and so will be keeping a close eye out on developments in the South of France this summer.
Though Vermaelen is currently captain, the Gunners looked much better with Koscielny and Mertesacker at the back against Bayern Munich last night.
