Gunners have been monitoring player all campaign long.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be weighing up a move for highly-rated young Bayer Leverkusen midfield player Lars Bender when the transfer window reopens later this summer, reports the Mail on Sunday.
The Germany international has enjoyed yet another eye-catching campaign for his high-flying Bundesliga outfit, scoring three goals in 33 top-flight matches, while in total the 22-year-old managed to feature in 39 contests in all competitions for Leverkusen as they finished the season in the top three of the table, and so have won a place in the Uefa Champions League qualifiers for the upcoming campaign.
And it is Bender’s eye-catching form of late that has seen the player watched on a number of occasions by scouts from the north London giants, with Wenger understood to be considering making a £15 million bid for the German when the transfer window opens on July 1 should his preferred option of bringing former captain Cesc Fabregas back to the Emirates for next season fail.
