Kinnear Brought In To Heal Rift?
Interesting news here in the Mirror on Friday morning who claim that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley brought Joe Kinnear in to heal the power struggle that had emerged between Alan Pardew and chief Toon scout Alan Carr.
According to the red top, “The Geordies’ owner, sportswear tycoon Mike Ashley, wanted to introduce a trusted outside figure in a bid to snuff out the damaging power struggle.”
The logic of employing an old drinking pal, one of the most abrasive and ridiculed figures in modern football, with a view to smoothing over delicate internal power struggles seems most odd to me. Mind you, if he’s not been brought in to do that, what the hell has he been employed to do, write scripts for all club press conferences?
It’s a bit like a appointing an anarchist to make sure that David Cameron and Nick Clegg are singing from the same hymn sheet.
This is a story well worth keeping an eye on.
