Gunners eyeing Lille star Dimitri Payet, as Gervinho nears Marseille switch.
Arsenal are tracking Lille winger Dimitri Payet as boss Arsene Wenger looks to improve his attacking options ahead of the new season.
According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are monitoring the 26-year-old, who scored 12 times and provided an impressive 13 assists in 38 Ligue 1 appearances last season.
Wenger has already released Russian winger Andrei Arshavin and is expecting to allow Ivory Coast international Gervinho to join Marseille in the coming weeks.
The French tactician has prioritised the signing of a striker – with Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain and Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic top targets – but would also like to buy a winger with the Gunners’ reported £70m summer transfer kitty.
France international Payet has been with Lille since arriving from Saint-Etienne in 2011 but the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League may prompt the left winger to seek pastures new this summer.
