Youngster could follow Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain in swapping St Mary’s for the Emirates.
Arsenal are tracking Southampton wonderkid Luke Shaw and will move for the youngster in January, fanatix understands.
Shaw is the latest starlet to emerge from the esteemed Saints academy in recent years, with Arsenal and England wingers Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Tottenham’s former PFA player of the year Gareth Bale among those to have developed on the South Coast.
Seventeen-year-old Shaw has followed in Bale and company’s footsteps, making the left-back spot at St Mary’s his own this season.
Arsenal are understood to be keen to make the £12m-rated defender the fourth Southampton academy product to move to North London and are lining-up a bid for Shaw in January.
Saints have no shortage of cash but have been forced to sell their promising youngsters in recent seasons, courtesy of being outside the top-flight.
Now back in the Premier League, the club will fight tooth and nail to hold onto Shaw, who is understood to be happy at the club.
However, if Saints succomb to relegation they could be forced to sell the youngster in the summer, with Chelsea also eyeing Shaw as a long-term replacement for exit-bound Ashley Cole.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has had problems at left-back in recent seasons, with the promising Kieran Gibbs often injured and Andre Santos woeful.
