Casillas benched for the second consecutive match in Real’s 1-0 win at Granada on Monday.
Arsenal could make a dramatic move for legendary Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas before the close of the transfer window.
The London Evening Standard says the Gunners are monitoring Casillas’ situation after the 32-year-old was left on the bench for the second consecutive match in Real’s 1-0 win at Granada on Monday.
Sources close to the Spain number one say the Real captain is considering a shock exit from the Santiago Bernabeu amid concerns he will remain behind Diego Lopez in the pecking order under Los Blancos head-coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has a reported summer transfer kitty of £70m but is yet to spend a penny on new players, with free transfer Yaya Sanogo, 20, the only off season addition at the Emirates.
Wenger wants competition for erratic number one Wojciech Szczesny and Casillas is one of the most experienced and decorated goalkeepers in history, having captained Spain to two European Championships and a World Cup, in addition to winning numerous trophies domestically with Real.
Arsenal have also been linked with Real Madrid duo Angel Di Maria and Karim Benzema, although the duo’s future reportedly depends on Real’s pursuit of Tottenham’s Gareth Bale.
