Wenger wants Montenegro hitman at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have stepped up their attempts to sign in-demand Fiorentina front man Stevan Jovetic at the end of the season, says the Daily Mail.
It is an open secret in the the world of football that the North London club are desperate to bring the deadly Montenegro international to the Emirates this summer.
However, Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger is not the only manager currently on the Continent keen on landing the attacker when the transfer window reopens on June 1.
And, with Wenger facing stiff competition from the likes of Serie A champions Juventus and fellow Premier League outfit Manchester City for the player’s signature, the Gunners have reportedly made an early move to sign the 23-year-old.
Jovetic’s contract in Florence runs until May 30 2016 and so his employers will be looking to hold out for as big a transfer fee as they can possibly obtain when the bidding starts.
However, with just 12 goals in 26 Serie A appearances this season, and only 39 in 129 matches in all competitions since moving to the club from Partizan five years ago, it is understood that Wenger is reluctant to meet Fiorentina’s £25 million asking price for Jovetic.
