Defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak was a key member of Sevilla’s rise to the top of the Europa League.
Arsenal were planning on making a big splash to land Sevilla superstar Grzegorz Krychowiak, but a recent injury could put a damper on those plans.
According to Bleacher Report, Krychowiak suffered a broken rib in the UEFA Super Cup game against Barcelona that will result in “a spell on the sidelines” for an unspecified period of time.
Arsenal were reportedly prepared to table a deal in the range of €30 million (£21.5 million) for the 25-year-old midfielder. A deal in that range for Krychowiak would be the biggest transfer of the season should the Gunners get the deal done.
The only other big-name signing Arsenal have made this summer was a £10 million deal for former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech – a move that didn’t exactly pay big dividends in Week 1.
Grzegorz Krychowiak was named to the 2014-15 La Liga team of the season after Sevilla finished 5th on the La Liga table and secured a spot in the 2015-16 Champions League group stage.
