Goalkeeper set for Emirates Stadium switch.
Arsenal are favourites to sign unwanted QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar this summer, reports the Daily Mirror.
QPR are desperate to trim their wage bill following relegation to the Championship and £70,000-a-week Cesar is expected to be among the first players to depart, with the Gunners close to landing the 33-year-old on the cheap.
Cesar, who arrived at Loftus Road from Inter Milan last summer, has been one of the few Hoops players to emerge from a disastrous season with his reputation still intact.
The Brazilian’s performances recently earned him a recall to the national squad, and AC Milan also said to be interested in his services.
Cesar’s representatives sounded out the Gunners last summer, before his free transfer to QPR, and the Selecao star is likely to get his dream move this time around.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly drawn up a short-list of candidates to replace Wojciech Szczesny as number one next season, with Hamburg’s Rene Adler, Stuttgart’s Sven Ulreich and Asmir Begovic of Stoke also under consideration.
