Swiss has been in the capital since 2004.
Unwanted Arsenal defender Johan Djourou is on the verge of leaving the Gunners and joining Bundesliga outfit Hamburg on a season-long loan with a view to joining the German giants on a permanent contract next year, says the Daily Mirror.
The Switzerland international has been at the Emirates for the past ten seasons now, although in the previous campaign the central defender was shipped out on a six-month loan to Hannover in the Bundesliga.
However, with Hannover unable to afford to keep the 26-year-old beyond the end of last season, their rivals have since stepped in to swoop for Djourou.
“We cannot and do not want to do economically irrational things. We pushed our limits. Hamburg can do the things we cannot do,” said Hannover sporting director Dirk Dufner.
Djourou won no trophies during his nine-year spell in the capital under Arsene Wenger’s management, although he did appear in the finals of the 2007 and 2011 League Cups, as well as the 2006 Uefa Champions League, and his exit continues the recent exodus of players from Arsenal.
