Gervinho’s spell at the Emirates Stadium could soon be over.
Italian side Roma are keen on adding Arsenal’s Gervinho to their squad for the upcoming season, according to The Metro.
Gervinho could be available for around €10m, and Arsenal fans will undoubtedly be happy to recoup some of the £10.8m fee that they signed him for, after his underwhelming spell at the Emirates.
Roma could use Gervinho as a direct replacement for Pablo Osvaldo, who has been repeatedly linked with Man City over the summer. Roma manager Rudi Garcia knows Gervinho well, as he managed him during a successful spell at Lille between 2009 and 2011, where the forward scored 36 times in 93 appearances.
The Ivorian’s return in England has been somewhat less impressive, and he has only managed to find the net 11 times in 63 matches for the Gunners.
Arsenal are desperate to recruit a new striker this summer, and are reportedly close to a deal to sign Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain. They also had a surprise £30 million bid turned down for Liverpool’s enigmatic front-man Luis Suarez, but would hope to land at least one major target before the start of the new season.
