Gunners now leading the chase for Lucas Silva.
Arsenal are now very much in pole position when it comes to the race for young Brazilian defensive midfielder Lucas Silva from Cruzeiro, with Marca reporting that a combination of Luka Modric’s imminent return from injury and the Brasileiro side’s significant asking price have meant that Real Madrid have decided to cool their interest.

Cruzeiro are believed to be demanding a fee in the region of £12 million for Silva, who has been one of the outstanding young stars of the Brazilian domestic football and looks destined for a successful career in Europe as an intelligent and technically gifted holding midfielder.
Those are certainly a combination of skills that would go down well at Arsenal, with the defensive midfield position having proven to be a real headache for Arsene Wenger this season, meaning that the Gunners could be more winning to meet Cruzeiro’s demands.
