The Gunners have received a surprise boost in their pursuit of a marquee striker signing this summer, with Real Madrid reportedly admitting that they would be willing to sell Karim Benzema, if it means they are able to re-sign former striker Alvaro Morata.

Morata joined Juventus last summer and has impressed during his time in Turin. He scored in both legs of his side’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, as the defending European Champions were knocked out 3-2 on aggregate.
Benzema has only scored three goals in his last nine games, but has netted 22 in all competitions this season, suggesting he would be an upgrade on the likes of Oliver Giroud, who is currently Arsene Wenger’s only recognised centre-forward who is playing regularly.
Wenger would no doubt love to have the option of choosing between the Frenchman, or even including both of them for certain games. Benzema, 27, has a formidable record, having scored 133 goals in 280 games during his time in the Spanish capital and would make a fine addition.
The Daily Star believe that Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested.
