Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Torino forward Alessio Cerci after the club’s president Urbano Cairo confirmed the player was for sale for the right price, according to the Daily Star.
£16m is said to be enough to land the exciting Italian international, who was one of the stand-out performers in Serie A last season with a superb return in both goals and assists whilst playing in a variety of attacking roles.
Cerci, 27, has been compared with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in the past for his pace and ability in the wide positions, and can also play upfront due to his good eye for goal.
With Olivier Giroud out injured until January, the Gunners have been in the market for a new signing upfront in the final few days of the transfer window, and Cerci may now be their top target.
The former Fiorentina star may be a realistic purchase as well, with Torino’s president revealing that he is ready to let the player go.
“Cerci’s sale is still possible and he has asked to leave,” Cairo is quoted as saying to the Italian press.
