Lyon want to sell Grenier by June 30 to balance their books.
Arsenal must push to sign Olympique Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier this summer, reports the Daily Express.
The 23-year old has been on Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger’s wishlist since last summer, but the Frenchman did not complete the deal.
It is now or never for the 64-year old manager though as Grenier is already being offered to Italian giants AC Milan by Lyon, who are keen to sell by June 30 in order to balance their accounts for this financial year.
Moreover, Milan are on a transfer spree having acquired another couple of French stars in Jeremy Menez from Paris Saint-Germain and Adil Rami earlier this summer and are also keen to land the versatile Grenier to make a strong statement before next season.
Wenger in contrast, has not made any transfers so far and is characteristically waiting for the 2014 World Cup to end before taking the plunge into the market.
Grenier would add strength in depth to the North Londoners’ squad, but having passed on the chance to sign a better midfielder in Cesc Fabregas earlier this summer, it appears Wenger won’t push for the France international either.
