Arsene Wenger has given a trial to Colombian Sebastian Perez.
Arsenal are considering whether to sign Sebastian Perez permanently, and have taken the 20-year-old on trial, according to The Metro.
Juventus and PSG were also interested in Perez, who plays for Atletico Nacional in Colombia.
He is a defensive midfielder, known for his tough-tackling and impressive range of passing.
Atletico Nacional have suggested it would take a bid of £5 million in order to sell Perez, so Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wants to take a look at him at close-quarters.
Arsenal’s scouts spotted Perez while he was playing for Colombia Under-20s at the recent Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.
If Perez impresses during his trial, he could eventually provide competition for Mikel Arteta in Arsenal’s holding midfield role. Arsenal are blessed with attacking central midfielders such as Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky. However, last summer’s sale of Alex Song, and the injury record of Abou Diaby, means Arsene Wenger could do with some more holding-midfield options.
