Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a move for long-term target Julian Draxler, with Schalke ready to sell the German international.
Draxler has long been linked with a move to the Gunners, and Metro [via Bild] reports reports Schalke are willing to offload the player to fund a deal for Inter Milan ace Xherdan Shaqiri.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be a massive fan of the 21-year-old who has already been capped 15 times by his country.
Reports suggest the Gunners are monitoring the situation as the club prepares to swoop on the star man.
Draxler can play both as a creative midfielder and winger, and his versatility has made him one of Europe’s hottest young talents.
Schalke have issued a clear hands-off warning to major European clubs in the past few years over Draxler, but it now seems the Gelsenkirchen-based club are ready to sell the player in order to boost funds and propel the club back into the Champions League.
