The former Real Madrid man and Argentina international has reportedly told his friends that he does not want to spend another season playing in the Europa League, where he has spent much of his time playing with Rafael Benitez’s Napoli.
This fuels rumours that the World Cup finalist will want a move come summer, especially as the manager who brought him to Italy will be leaving at the end of the season.
Higuain has long been linked with a move to north London, but denied it in the past having claimed that he was happy where he was, though with his current side faltering and looking likely to secure a spot in Europe’s second competition at best, a move could be in the offing.
Arsenal would be able to offer him consistent Champions League football, having qualified for the past 17 competitions, and he would provide genuine competition for Frenchman Olivier Giroud.
