Arsenal are now at the front of the queue to sign Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus, according to The Metro.
Liverpool were in talks to sign Reus, but Arsenal are reportedly now in pole position after hijacking negotiations.
The 26-year-old is currently being valued at £47.8m. Arsenal apparently have a transfer budget of £200m.
Although he is known as an attacking midfielder, Reus is also capable of playing as a striker or winger.
Regardless of position, the German international offers a consistent scoring threat.
Reus has scored 53 goals in the past three seasons for Borussia Dortmund.
He would satisfy Arsenal fans who are hoping to see Arsene Wenger back up his words and upgrade his attack.
The Gunners lack a consistent scoring threat outside of Alexis Sanchez, as Olivier Giroud proved to be inconsistent last season.
Fortunately for Liverpool, they can afford to lose out on this sort of signing as they have already recruited Christian Benteke.
However, the Reds may continue to go after Reus, especially as him joining Arsenal could damage their hopes of finishing above the Gunners and qualifying for the Champions League through a top-four place.
