Arsenal fans have been pining for a new striker all summer amid links to Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.
But the Frenchman is not the world-class forward that the Gunners are said to be in talks over buying.
talkSPORT journalist Ian Abrahams has claimed that Arsenal have explored the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, after giving up hope of landing Benzema.
Ok so here is my @Arsenal gossip. The big striker the Gunners are in for is Edinson Cavani, Benzema is not leaving Real Madrid

As I’m lead to believe no deal has been done yet for Cavani, the transfer isn’t imminent but there are talks over a possible move to Emirates — Ian Abrahams (Moose) (@BroadcastMoose) August 20, 2015
Cavani has been linked with several top European clubs after apparently becoming unsettled in the French capital, where he has to play out of position to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack.
There is also speculation that the Uruguayan does not enjoy a good relationship with PSG’s enigmatic captain and would be attracted by the proposition of playing in the Premier League.
Arsenal’s current strike force of Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott has been accused of lacking the firepower needed for the Gunners to mount a serious title challenge this season.
Cavani, 28, has scored 57 goals in 98 games for PSG. He previously hit 104 in 138 for Napoli.
