Serie A side Palermo have made another attempt to sign Arsenal striker Joel Campbell, according to reports.
Campbell has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer despite signing a new deal with the Gunners in January.
The Costa Rican spent the second half of last season on loan with La Liga heavyweights Villarreal, and it is believed he wants to remain with the Gunners this season to fight for his spot in Arsene Wenger’s side.
According to The Daily Mail, Palermo failed to meet Arsenal’s £7.1m asking price for the 23-year-old last month but have made a fresh attempt to sign the striker.
Campbell was expected to make another loan move this season, but it seems he will now either remain at Arsenal or join Palermo on a permanent deal.
Should he decide to remain with the Premier League side, Campbell will likely struggle for first-team action as he is clearly well down the pecking order in Arsenal’s attacking ranks.
