Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed England duo Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Theo Walcot as well as defender Nacho Monreal could all be fit for the Gunners crucial visit to Liverpool at the weekend.
Wenger gave an squad injury update to Arsenal.com ahead of the Gunners Anfield tie.
The match is pivotal for both teams with just five points separating Liverpool in 11th from Arsenal who are 6th, and a victory would drastically improve either sides top four aspirations.
Wenger also revealed that missing Gunners midfielder Tomas Rosicky will be out for another week and he also said that summer signing David Ospina will rejoin first team training after recovering from a knee issue that he picked up against Galatasaray in October.
Long-term crocked midfielders Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere are both still out until next year whilst Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey are also on target for their expected return dates.
“There’s a slight chance of Monreal being available and a very slight chance for Walcott. We hope that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be fit. We’ll see that on Saturday,” said Wenger.
“[Walcott] is back in training today [Thursday]. But only today. I might take him, I don’t know yet until he’s back to full training. Let’s see.
“That’s what we’ll see on Saturday after a test. He’s [Oxlade-Chamberlain] not in training at the moment.”
The Arsenal squad is currently light in midfield and defence so a quick return to action from Oxlade Chamberlain and Monreal would ease Wenger’s selection headache.
