Gunners legend set to rival Boris Johnson.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur legend Sol Campbell is being persuaded by senior Tories to compete against Boris Johnson for London Mayor in the General Election next May, reports CaughtOffside.
Campbell hasn’t finalised any decision over whether to stand, but is openly interested in the position:

“We’ll see what happens. A few more conversations have to take place,” Campbell was quoted by CaughtOffside.
“I’m London through and through. It’s about getting more of the wealth in central London to help the boroughs.”
If the 40-year-old does stand, he aims to improve the lack of ethnic minorities in British politics, and will use his Premier League status to bring the public on board, saying, “The voters need to see someone who can connect with them.”
