With Arsene Wenger redoubling his interest in the Swans stars Huw Jenkins has told the Gunners to think again.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has made a stand over his team’s two most sought-after players.
Centre-back Ashley Williams and forward Michu are both being targeted by Arsene Wenger as the transfer deadline looms, with Arsenal still desperately needing reinforcements both up top and at the back.
Goal.com quote Jenkins as saying: “Nothing has changed. There has been no contact, as far as our football club is concerned, in connection with anybody and we wouldn’t welcome any bids.
“The overriding point from our football club is that we are not looking to sell any of our players and they are not up for sale.
“We want to strengthen our squad, we feel we’ve done that and we continue to look forward to the season ahead. That has not changed.
Williams was recently named Swansea captain for the 2013-14 season and played a massive role in keeping the Swans defensively secure during their first two seasons in the Premier League.
Of equal importance was Michu. The 27-year-old Spaniard wasted no time adjusting to life in England, scoring 18 goals in 35 league appearances last season.
Given the huge impact Michu had at the club and the amount of attention showered on him by the media, it is quite remarkable that Jenkins has not had to make a statement of intent regarding his hottest property before now, with only 12 days until the transfer window closes. Swansea fans will surely be hoping this will be the last time he has to do so.
