Dundee’s Gauld is attracting plenty of attention in the Premier League.
After Everton, Liverpool and Manchester United have shown interest in Dundee United’s Ryan Gauld Arsenal are now sending scouts to watch the teenager, according to the Daily Mail.
The 17-year-old has been impressing in the Scottish Premier League, which included assisting all four goals last Saturday in a 4-1 rout of Patrick Thistle.
It’s this form that has made Gauld hot property and although the starlet is trying to stay grounded and level-headed, interest in the man dubbed ‘Baby Messi’ grows every day.
These are exciting times at United, where Jackie McNamara is building a team full of youth and flair and the teenager is one of the figure heads in that ideology.
However, it was always likely that there would be great interest in Gauld and if the price is right the Scots would be in no position to refuse.
Whether the Gunners can tempt the youngster or not is another matter, although looking to players who have been developed at the Emirates Stadium – such as Kieran Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere – should serve as inspiration.
It’s a similar story with the Red Devils, as despite the stature of the Premier League champions they have always relied on talented youth products; the most recent of which includes Tom Cleverley and Jonny Evans.
Gauld is clearly in no rush to leave Scotland just yet, but the prospect of playing for one of the top sides in European football would be enough to turn most players’ heads.
