Karim Benzema is a major Premier League target after five straight seasons with 20+ goals. Can he be the final piece to Arsenal’s championship puzzle?
Having Alexis Sanchez as a star striker is good, but an elite scoring duo could put Arsenal over the top – which is why the team has launched a bid for Real Madrid scoring machine Karim Benzema.
According to the Metro, Arsenal have “tabled” a £31.3 million transfer bid for the 27-year-old French striker. The current state of reconfiguration in Real Madrid under new manager Rafa Benitez has caused internal upheaval with the La Liga outfit struggling to keep its biggest stars such as Sergio Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo and of course Benzema both happy and on good contract terms.
However, the Metro noted that although Arsenal have launched the bid for Benzema, it may be too little too late as Real Madrid appears to have cut off communication with Emirates Stadium.
It’s all true the Arsenal bid for Benzema: 45m€. Real Madrid was initially open to talk, but now they have stopped everything

Benzema has enjoyed incredible success since signing with Real Madrid in 2009. After a pedestrian 8-goal season in 2009-10, Benzema exploded onto the La Liga scene with 15 league goals and 26 total goals the following year. In 2011-12, he set career highs with 21 league goals and 32 total goals as Real Madrid won the La Liga title and later the Supercopa de Espana.
