1One of the biggest beer aficionados on the Red Devils, Bastian Schweinsteiger is a pretty good footballer too.
The summer transfer window has come and gone, and while everyone has their opinion of who “won” the transfer period, an Arsenal legend believes Bastian Schweinsteiger was the biggest steal.
According to the Metro, former Arsenal defender/midfielder Martin Keown feels that Schweinsteiger could be a fantastic signing for the Red Devils this year. Schweinsteiger signed with Man United during the transfer window for just €9 million.
“I think Bastian Schweinsteiger was magnificent for Germany against Scotland and could have a big impact,” Keown said. “He is already a top player and could turn out to be a fantastic signing for United.
“He has a real hallmark of quality about him and can run games from midfield.
“He may not be a long-term solution but he could be a top signing.”
Schweinsteiger was a dominant midfielder for many years with Bayern Munich – including a stint with Louis van Gaal as the manager.
Keown played for Arsenal in two stints, from 1984 to 1986 and later from 1993 to 2004. During his second stint at Emirates Stadium, Keown played in 311 matches, scoring four goals and winning three Premier League titles.
