Henry knows the American league well having spent four-and-a-half years with New York Red Bulls before announcing his retirement from football in December 2014.
The Frenchman is now a pundit for Sky Sports – and will cover his first match this weekend when Manchester City host the Gunners in the Premier League on Sunday – and says that he believes Gerrard has made the right decision.
“I think he is leaving at the right time,” Henry was quoted by CaughtOffside.
“He is clever enough to adapt over there. Saying that, he will arrive at a team that is already in tune. Trust me, Los Angeles Galaxy have been either winning or losing in the final every single year. They are a very good organisation.”
Gerrard will bring to an end a hugely successful career at Anfield when he leaves for the USA this summer, with many considering the 34-year-old to be the best Reds player of all time.
The Englishman has won two FA Cups, three League Cups, the UEFA Cup and the Champions League during his time on Merseyside.
