Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has insisted that his former club needs to invest in a first-choice striker that will guarantee them goals.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for Real Madrid star Karim Benzema this summer, but Arsene Wenger has been coy about his plans in the transfer market before the deadline.

Arsenal miss out on defender: Serie A giants swoop for starlet.
While it is expected that he will move for the Frenchman, Parlour insists that it is critical to their chances this season that they have someone that can lead the line.
“That is a position they’ve got to look at,” he told Sky Sports News HQ. “Everyone is going to jump on the bandwagon now but it’s a long, hard season and there’s a long way to go.
“If you look at Man City, you know Sergio Aguero is their main man, for Manchester United it’s Wayne Rooney and at Chelsea, it’s Diego Costa. Who is it at Arsenal?”
Parlour made 470 appearances for the Gunners between 1991-2004, but he is adamant that they need a current star striker to lead them and make them genuine title contenders.
However, he was keen to add that they must not overreact to Sunday’s loss to West Ham, with Wenger’s men slipping to a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates to start the season.
