The Gunners set for Uchida swoop as Sagna nears exit.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may finally have decided on his right-back target for the summer as he prepares to make a move for Schalke 04 full-back Atsuto Uchida, reports the Daily Express.
The 26-year old Japanese international can play both as a right-back and as a left-back, and is also known for his fantastic work-rate in both defence and attack.
Wenger is impressed with Uchida, and reckons that he could be the ideal replacement for Bacary Sagna since he is at a mature age of 26, and has the talent to fill the void to be created by the 31-year old Frenchman.
Sagna is set for a move to the Gunners’ Premier League rivals Manchester City, and while Toulouse right-back Serge Aurier is also being considered by Wenger, the 21-year old is believed to be still in the developing stage.
Whether Schalke would be willing to sell one of their star players remains to be seen, but the north Londoners now have the finances to push a sale if they wish to land Uchida this summer.
