The Gunners are keen on signing Agger.
Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has emerged as a shock transfer target for Arsenal this summer as they look to improve their back line, according to the Daily Star.
Agger’s future at Anfield has been cast into doubt following the £20m arrival of Dejan Lovren from Southampton earlier in the summer.
It now means that Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel are all ahead of the Denmark international for a place in central defence and the 29-year-old is considering his options as a result.
This has alerted the interest of Arsene Wenger, who is keen to recruit at the back with the future of club captain Thomas Vermaelen at the Emirates Stadium in serious doubt.
Both Barcelona and Manchester United have shown interest in signing the Belgium international and if the 28-year-old were to depart that would leave just Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker as recognised centre-backs.
Brondy are also interested in re-signing Agger and their chairman Jan Bach Andersen has admitted they will do everything in their power to make that happen.
“We will work really, really hard to secure Daniel but as he has also said, when he was here with Liverpool, the timing has to be right,” Andersen said.
However, the North Londoners are likely to be a more attractive prospect for Agger, who’s future on Merseyside looks uncertain despite the fact manager Brendan Rodgers does not want to sell him.
