Wenger is determined to bring a new custodian to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have identified Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler for a potential move to the Emirates at the end of the season to finally bring to an end the club’s long-running search for a new No 1, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is still said to be unhappy with both his current shot stoppers in north London, Poland internationals Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski.
In fact, the Frenchman even went as far as dropping first-choice Szczesny from the starting line-up for the club’s crucial UEFA Champions League last-eight contest in Bayern Munich last month, claiming the Pole was mentally fatigued.
And now it appears as though Wenger’s patience has finally snapped, with the trainer lining up a shock summer swoop for the 28-year-old Hamburg keeper, whose contract with the Bundesliga outfit runs until 2017, although the 11-times capped Germany international is not expected to cost the Gunners much more than £10 million if he does decide to join the club.
