Gunners could target Rosanero stopper.
Reports in the Italian media on Saturday claim that Arsenal are interested in signing Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.
The Italian international spent last season on loan at Fiorentina, but after the Viola decided against signing him on a permanent deal he returned to Sicily.
However, while Palermo will ply their trade in Serie B next season, the club already have two able goalkeepers and have revealed that they are willing to allow the 27-year-old to leave.
Both Stefano Sorrentino and Samir Ujkani are expected to battle it out for a starting place under new boss Gennaro Gattuso, thus leaving Viviano looking for a new club.
It is understood that Sampdoria are also monitoring his situation, as they look for a replacement for the recently departed Sergio Romero, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Meanwhile, speculation in England continues to link the Gunners with a whole host of names with the likes of Kiko Casillas and Vincent Guaita possible arrivals before the transfer deadline.
Arsene Wenger revealed in a press-conference on Friday that he is likely to add some new faces to his squad in the next two weeks, and Viviano could represent a solid option between the sticks.
Despite losing his place in the Fiorentina starting line-up mid-way through last season, he has been involved in Cesare Prandelli’s Italy squad in the past and will be determined to secure a move to a top club in order to get his World Cup dream back on track.
