Arsenal and Everton among clubs keen on free agent.Arsenal and Everton have been linked with a move to snap up recently-released Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o, according to talkSPORT.
The 33-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer after seeing through a one-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with his performances upfront seemingly not enough to earn himself a longer stay in Jose Mourinho’s squad.
The Blues have recently moved to sign Diego Costa for £32m from Atletico Madrid, and could make further additions upfront, putting Eto’o’s place in the side under threat and making him surplus to requirements.
Arsenal and Everton are both in the market for new signings upfront, with Olivier Giroud the only current recognised option upfront for the Gunners, and with another Chelsea forward in Romelu Lukaku coming to the end of his stay on loan at Goodison Park.
Despite being past his peak, Eto’o still managed a reasonably impressive 12 goals in 34 games this season, and could be a useful backup option for a number of top clubs, with Serie A duo Roma and Fiorentina also reportedly looking at him upon his exit from Chelsea.
