Arsenal and Liverpool are set to do battle over Real Betis youngster Dani Ceballos, according to reports.
The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to the Reds during the summer window, but it now seems Arsenal have joined the race for the 19-year-old.
Ceballos starred in Spain’s European Under-19 Championship win earlier in the summer, and The Mirror reports both the Reds and Gunners are keen to bring the youngster to the Premier League.
Real Betis slapped a £7.5m buyout clause in Ceballos’ contract, however, his deal expires at the end of the season and the Spanish club could look to cash-in in January.
The reports suggests both Arsenal and Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Ceballos, and the midfielder is eligible to sign a pre-contract with either side in January.
It means either Arsenal or Liverpool will be able to sign Ceballos for a cut-price fee as Real Betis will fear losing him for free at the end of the season.
