A bidding war is reportedly about to ensue between Liverpool and Arsenal as the two clubs have both expressed serious interest in Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.
According to the Daily Star, with the news that Real Madrid is going to make a massive bid to land Man City’s leading scorer and Golden Boot Award winner Sergio Aguero (upwards of £63.9m according to the Daily Star), Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema might be as good as gone from La Liga – right into the waiting arms of either the Gunners or the Reds.
The 27-year-old striker just finished his 6th straight season with Real Madrid and his 5th straight season with double-digit goals. Benzema has totaled at least 20 goals in seven of his last eight seasons dating back to his final two seasons with Lyon. In 77 matches with the French national team, Benzema has 25 goals, including three at the 2014 World Cup.
With Liverpool seeking a new manager, they may be more inclined to empty the wallet to get Benzema to make that major splash now that their legend Steven Gerrard has retired. Arsenal is also looking to go on a spending spree and may see Benzema as the catalyst for a Premier League Championship run in 2015-16.
