Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed a major boost in the chase for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta, according to reports.
Motta has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, however Spanish newspaper Marca reports the deal has stalled.
Motta’s contract with the Parisian club expires at the end of the season and PSG could look to cash in on the Brazil-born Italian international.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 32-year-old, and Atletico’s failure to seal a deal could see one of the Premier League duo swoop.
The Gunners suffered a season-opening shock loss to West Ham United on Sunday, and Wenger could look to bolster his midfield by signing the experienced midfielder.
Francis Coquelin currently holds the defensive midfield spot at Arsenal, however Motta could prove to a solid alternative should Arsene Wenger pursue a deal for the former Inter Milan man.
