Tottenham fans thought that their anxious wait to see the Algerian, who starred in his 25 Premier League appearances last season, tied down for the long term was over when he posted a picture of him with pen in hand.
However, the cheeky midfielder was actually signing a new sponsorship deal with sportswear giants adidas.
He posted the below picture with the caption: “Happy to have extended my contract with @adidasfootball.”
Bentaleb, who made his first-team debut for Spurs 18 months ago under the management of Tim Sherwood, has already represented Algeria at a World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations.
