Gunners have not made their move for the player as yet though.
Arsenal are still keen on signing highly rated Olympique Lyonnais midfield player Clement Grenier this summer, according to reports in the Daily Express.
The north London club have been keeping close tabs on the France international for some time now, with Gunners head coach Arsene Wenger even expressing an interest in the player earlier this month, although as yet the Gunners have still to make any official bid for Grenier.
The 22-year-old, who has a contract with the Ligue 1 giants that runs until the summer of 2014, has been with Lyon throughout his whole career, featuring in 67 matches for the club in that time and registering seven goals and 15 assists along the way.
And with the player able to leave Lyon on a free transfer next year, his employers either want Grenier to put pen to paper on a new deal this summer, or they will attempt to offload him to Arsenal on the cheap rather than risk losing the attacking midfield player for nothing in 12 months’ time.
