Arsenal have launched a bid to lure Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam to the Emirates, according to reports.
The Algerian international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League following his solid performances at last year’s World Cup, and TalkSport [via Sport Mediaset] report the Gunners have made a bid of around £10m for the player.
Ghoulam has impressed during his time at Napoli but was not considered first-choice by the now departed Rafael Benitez, making just 21 Serie A appearances last season, 10 of which were off the bench.
The 24-year-old left-back would provide strong competition for Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs for a starting spot in Arsene Wenger’s side, but it remains to be seen if new Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is willing to part ways with Ghoulam.
Previous to his stint at Napoli, Ghoulam made 87 Ligue 1 appearances for St Etienne.
Ghoulam has 11 caps for Algeria, two of which were won at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
