The Gunners have made an offer for Sao Paulo defender Rodrigo Caio.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems to be working towards strengthening the long term future of the club as reports in Metro have revealed that the Gunners have tabled a £7m bid for Sao Paulo defender Rodrigo Caio.
The north Londoners had the 20-year-old watched during the recently concluded Toulon Tournament, where he mesmerised talent spotters with his on-field performances.
The player has recently signed with agent Jorge Mendes, and reports in the press revealed that the latter has already held talks with Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley.
Caio traditionally plies his trade as a centre-back, however, due to his versatility he can also play at right back or as a defensive midfielder.
Hence, pundits feel that he may prove to be an ideal long-term addition to the Gunners squad.
Meanwhile, the North Londoners will need to still obtain a work permit for the player, even if they manage to make him put pen to paper on a deal with them.
Also, while Caio is a first team regular at Sao Paulo, it is unlikely that Wenger will be able to introduce him into the Arsenal starting-XI straightaway.
