Arsenal are reportedly set to pay up as much as £50m in a bid to bring Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani to the Emirates Stadium, according to CaughtOffside.
The Uruguay international has been linked with an exit from PSG for much of the summer so far, and it has now been revealed that he is keen on a move to Arsenal after holding talks with Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis.
This has prompted an opening bid of £50m for the former Napoli man, which the Gunners hope will be enough to bring him to north London and complete a superb summer of new signings.
It has been suggested, however, that senior figures such as Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski could be sold to help fund the deal, while Thomas Vermaelen is already looking bound for a £15m move to Barcelona.
