Arsenal could be about to pull off a dramatic transfer swoop on London rivals Chelsea, report the Mail, with the Gunners seemingly having also activated the release clause in Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy’s contract.
Chelsea had made their move for the France international after striker Fernando Torres departed for AC Milan on a two-year loan deal yesterday, but it would appear as though Arsenal are ready to challenge them for the 27 year-old.
Arsene Wenger also has the trump card of guaranteed first team football to play in negotiations with Remy, with main striker Olivier Giroud on the treatment table – in stark contrast to in-form Chelsea marksman Diego Costa, who was in amongst the goals again at Everton on Saturday evening.
