Arsenal have made a renewed attempt to sign Julian Draxler as they attempt to boost their title challenge for the remaining months of the Premier League season.
The Daily Star reports that the Gunners have made a new bid of €30 million (approximately £24.7 million) for the Germany international, who has become one of FC Schalke 04’s most important players since he broke into the first team in January 2011 at the age of 17.
Last season Draxler, now 20 years of age, scored 13 goals and provided 7 assists in 39 games for the Gelsenkirchen side, and looks on course to better that this term with 5 goals and 8 assists in 24 matches.
Draxler could be a fine addition to the Arsenal squad, particularly with the Gunners suffering a number of injuries at present.
Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Yaya Sanogo and Abou Diaby are all out of action for the Gunners, and the acquisition of Draxler could have a morale boosting effect on the squad – particularly in the advent of an insipid performance going forward against Southampton last night, particularly in the first half.
Draxler’s pace, willingness to dribble at opponents, and desire to shoot as soon as he gets a sight of goal could make him the direct threat Arsenal require in the second half of the season.
