The Italy international has been chased by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger in the past, with the club making a bid for his services last year.
However, reports in the Italian media say that Wenger is set to turn to the Italian international once again as he hopes to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window slams shut on Monday night.
The Gunners may face some competition for his signature, though, as fellow Serie A side Torino have reportedly made a similar approach for his signature.
Juventus are yet to reply to either offer, but it is thought that they could be tempted to part with the player, who has been on the periphery of the first team for sometime, especially if there is a sizeable loan fee involved.
