Wenger plots £21 million offer for Bender.
It looks like North Londoners Arsenal have not given up on one of their top midfield targets in Bayer Leverkusen star Lars Bender, reports the Daily Express.
The Gunners were rebuffed in their chase of the German international last season when a £15 million bid was rejected by Leverkusen, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could return with a £21 million bid within the next week to test the waters.
Leverkusen though are under no pressure to sell as Bender recently signed a new deal at the club, although a sizeable enough offer could yet get them thinking along the lines of selling the 25-year old.
Bender too is known to have big ambitions of playing for a top European club in the future and although he may not consider Arsenal as a very big step up from Leverkusen, the chance to work with a world class manager in Arsene Wenger could tempt him.
Arsenal meanwhile, are possibly looking at Bender as a long term replacement for the ageing Mikel Arteta.
