Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester City will go head-to-head over the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Isco, according to reports.
Isco was linked with a move away from the Bernabeu during the summer transfer window, but remained at the club and started in Real Madrid’s 0-0 draw with Sporting Gijon before being dropped to the bench for Los Blancos’ 5-0 win over Real Betis.
The 23-year-old has been in and out of the side since joining from Malaga in 2013 and it is understood the Spanish international is growing frustrated with his lack of first-team action for the La Liga giants.
According to Sport [via Daily Express], both Arsenal and Manchester City are monitoring the situation and are likely to battle each other for the signature of the playmaker.
City spent big during the summer and it is unknown whether Manuel Pellegrini is keen to bring in another midfielder, but Arsenal would certainly be boosted by the arrival of Isco.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger faced criticism from fans, with the club’s only signing of the summer being goalkeeper Petr Cech.
