A pair of Premier League clubs trying to add depth to the goalkeeper spot are set to clash over Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.
According to TurkishFootball.com, Manchester United and Arsenal both inquired as to the asking price of the 29-year-old Uruguayan national. Turkish Football reported that Galatasaray has slapped a €35 million (£25m) price tag on Muslera – which would be more than Man United paid for David de Gea. Meanwhile, the Gunners are currently seeking permission to speak to the talented stopper’s agent and reportedly are ready to make an offer.
Muslera is currently representing his country in the Copa America and has made 67 appearances with the Uruguay national team. He has started a minimum of 30 games each season between Lazio (his former club) and Galatasaray since 2009.
Muslera has been an absolute stud for Galatasaray since moving to Turkey in 2011. In four seasons he has won three Super Lig championships, two Turkiye Kupasi cups, and two TFF Super Kupa titles. He was named the Super Lig Goalkeeper of the Year in 2011-12 and has recorded a Super Lig-record 19 clean sheets.
