Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have been heavily linked with an interest in signing Lyon goal machine Alexandre Lacazette this summer, but the Premier League trio look set to miss out during the current transfer window.
The pacy 24-year-old tore up Ligue 1 last season, hitting the net 27 times in 33 games. He also made six assists.
Lacazette’s stunning form made it very hard for Lyon to keep him, but, despite all the interest from England, the Stade de Gerland side have managed to convince their star man to put pen to paper on a new contract until June 2019.
Liverpool have made key attacking signings already this summer, bringing in Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings.
However, United and Arsenal remain very short in terms of striking options, so their failure to sign Lacazette will come as a real blow.
Arsenal are still working on a deal to sign Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, while United have been linked with PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
