Wenger congratulates his new striker after opening his account at Villa Park today.
After squandering chances to score his first Arsenal goal against both Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund during the last week, Danny Welbeck finally got the monkey off his back this afternoon by firing home for the Gunners during their emphatic 3-0 victory at Aston Villa and his manager Arsene Wenger is delighted for the former Manchester United man, report the Daily Star.

Wenger seemed to acknowledge the speculation surrounding Welbeck’s ability to score goals after missed chances against City and Dortmund, so was delighted for his £16m man signing that he finally found the back of the net this afternoon:
“Of course because the longer it lasts the more people speak of it and then it becomes a problem. He got that out of the way today and I’m happy for him.”
The Gunners were impressive in the West Midlands as they put a three match Premier League winless run behind them to end Villa’s unbeaten start to the season with a first half burst of three goals in four minutes.
